The Meatmen

Tesco Vee was perhaps Michigans greatest rocker, next to Iggy Pop, of course. Here are four classics from The Meatmen.

I Want Drugs

Razamanaz and Pope On A Rope

Come On Over To Mah Crib

Hot Rails To Hell

The Stooges: Best. Tour. Rider. Ever.

Here is some pure comedy gold. Even TSG says it is the most entertaining concert rider they have come across. I love how they keep it basic, when it actually comes to the sound and lighting. Brilliant.

The Cramps- Like A Bad Girl Should

Perhaps the last bastion of true Rock and Roll, The Cramps are easily in my top five of all time Great Rock and Roll bands. Here is a video that didn't get played on MTV.

Hunter S Thompson interviews Keith Richards

It took me a few plays to understand what they are saying.

Rock and Roll High School

One of the greatest bands to ever exist playing one of their most prolific tunes. Back in the early 80's, my family had rented a VHS movie and this video was on the tape after the movie, thus introducing me to punk rock. Distributors often put trailers and soundtrack songs on tapes after the movie during the advent of rentals. Of course, I wanted to be Dee Dee as soon as I saw this.

X Ray Specs- Oh Bondage, Up Yours

One of my favorite bands of the first wave of UK punk, X-Ray Specs were everything a great rock band should be.... loud, obnoxious, dancable, and garish. This cut is a bit raw, which I think makes it even better than the polished versions.

Plasmatics- Masterplan

What can I say about The Plasmatics that hasn't been said before? Wendy O is my dream girl.......

BAD NEWS

Now how can you get anymore Rocka Rolla than the Bad News video for 'Warriors Of Ghengis Khan?' From the British tv show 'The Comic Strip.' (Bonus points if you know what TV show these guys were in before).

Meatmean- I Want Drugs

Tesco and the boys are one of my all-time favorites.

Dead Flowers

How can you get any cooler than this? Keif, Ryan Adams, Hank 3, and Willie Nelson singing 'Dead Flowers' as the Lost Highwaymen. This has always been one of my favorite Keif songs as well.

Humble Pie- I Don't Need No Doctor

From "Performance Rockin At The Fillmore". You probably heard this on FM rock radio in 1971, the same year I was born. I consider Humble Pie one of the first Heavy Metal bands, aside from the obvious Black Sabbath. To me Humble Pie were the real-deal compared to bands like Led Zepplin, despite the band's next hit, "30 Days In The Hole," which went in a more bluesy-soul kind of direction. Here, the band is tight and dead-nuts on.

Turbonegro- High On The Crime

When your'e bored and you need a kick
When your'e hot and your fingers itch
Don't wanna go to work again ever no more, boy
Every night when I'm on the prowl
My brain is burning then I want it all
Don't ever want to pay for anything anymore, boy
Just grab it 'cause it's yours and the empire's dying
Just grab the stuff and hit the door
And you'll be high on the crime, high on the crime Come on

so come on, come on
grab your booty and your'e on the run
come on, come on
get your buzz on, and the heat is on

All you guards that i got out past
Tell your boss he can invoice my ass
The speed slow me down but I'm still smartest in my class, boy
Whatever
When your mommy is to cold to buy your pills
And your daddy ain't around to pay your bills
I've been hungry
But not enough to kill, boy
Just grab it 'cause it's yours and the empire's dying
Just grab the stuff and hit the door
And you'll be high on the crime, high on the crime
Come on

So come on, come on
Grab your booty and your'e on the run
Come on, come on
Get your buzz on, and the heat is on
So come, on come on
Grab your booty and your'e on the run
Come on, come on
Quick you dirty rat shake your buns
